Eating healthy, nutritious foods offers many health benefits that keep us mentally and physically well. We benefit from good nutrition in several ways, such as;

    • Improved brain health and memory: Eating healthy increases blood flow to the brain, preventing brain diseases like cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s, dementia. Eating dark fruits and vegetables, some of which are good sources of vitamin E and other vitamins, helps prevent and cure Alzheimer’s disease.

    • Reduce high blood pressure and risks of diseases: Healthy eating habits can improve your heart health and prevent other heart-related diseases such as stroke, osteoporosis, some cancers, and diabetes. You will lower the risk of heart disease by consuming a diet low in sodium, calories, and cholesterol by avoiding trans and saturated fats usually found in fried foods, red meats, palm oils, coconut oils, packaged snacks, and margarine. Therefore, a proper diet such as 4 to 5 servings of vegetables and fruits a day dramatically increases your ability to battle diseases that can endanger you, speeding up your recovery from illnesses and injuries.

    • Strong bones and teeth: Eating healthy can help people build strong teeth and bones now and prevent tooth decay and osteoporosis in the future. A calcium-rich diet preserves healthy bones and teeth and helps avoid osteoporosis-associated bone loss. Low-fat milk products are often considered to be safe sources of calcium. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends daily calcium of about 1,000 milligrams for an average adult above 18. Moreover, the use of products that are fortified with vitamins in balancing your diet helps the body absorb essential calcium.

    • Weight Control and Cholesterol Lowering: To effectively control your weight, you should not eat more calories than you burn each day. Foods, such as vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and whole grains typically have fewer calories than fast foods. The risk of some obesity-related illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, blocked arteries, and thyroid disease is decreased by losing weight.
